BX2000 enables an accurate analysis of body conformation (thin mass, fat mass, and muscle) through ultrasounds technology. The device consent not invasive measurations (as with plicometers) with a precision level much higher than methods used nowaday. The user just has to place the instrument on the skin and the measuration of muscolar and fat thickness takes place in few seconds. Informations are then saved in a specific software.
Defined as the most easy to use and accurate device by Dr. Holden MacRae, Professor of Sports Medicine at the Pepperdine University, Malibu.
This device avoids the embarassing need to grab and pinch fat to measure it, thus being more desirable than a skinfold caliper. During an on-field study done by IntelaMetrix, 96% of respondents stated the BX 2000 was more comfortable and preferable over skin fold calipers. Over 88% of respondents stated they would be willing to pay for a BX2000 assessment, while only 40% of respondents stated they would be pay for a skinfold caliper assessment.
Using BX2000 is easy and fast, and this makes it more preferable than other instruments. Also, BX2000 users need less training and on-field practice than users of skinfold calipers.
Unlike hydrostatic weighting, with air or water, infrared weighting and bioelectric impedance, BX2000 gives fat tissue thickness percentage of the whole body BUT ALSO how it's distributed in it. According to today's knowledge, this is the best way to evaluate the margin of risk for the patient's health.
Unlike hydrostatic weighting, BX2000 does not depend on hydratation levels, caffeine or alchool assumption, physical activity, fasting or time of the day. None of these can influence the analysis made by BX2000, making sure they're always repeatable and accurat
